When Nicole Semuskie moved to the Central Valley with her family, she knew her son needed speech support right away. As a military family, moving often comes with challenges, but Nicole didn’t waste any time. Just one month after arriving, a pediatrician referred them to Speech Pathways.

That was in 2019. Today, six years later, Nicole’s son is thriving.

“He has Renpenning Syndrome, which is a severe speech delay,” Nicole explains. “When he was one, he still wasn’t talking. By two, all he could say was ‘mom,’ and we were told that might be the only word he’d ever speak.”

But things changed. Through a combination of TalkTools therapy, feeding support, and dedicated care, Nicole’s son started gaining strength, movement, and confidence. And now?

“He just doesn’t stop talking,” she says. “He tells stories, he chatters, he’s come so far.”

Nicole credits much of that growth to the heart behind Speech Pathways. “They’re kind, caring, and committed,” she says. “You can feel the love behind what they do.”

Her advice to other parents: “If your child is struggling or if you’re unsure when the right time is to get help, just do it. It’s so worth it. The small victories add up, and in the end, the progress is incredible.”

At Speech Pathways, we believe every voice deserves to be heard. Thank you, Nicole, for trusting us to be part of your journey.
